ROTC Offers Many Opportunities to Excel

In Army ROTC, it's not all classroom and field training. There are many opportunities for you to get to know your fellow cadets better and increase your skills in a variety of areas.

Ranger Challenge

The Ranger Challenge is an opportunity for schools to "compete" with each other completing military tasks. In addition to a written examination where Cadets test their Army knowledge, there are physical fitness drills and field exercises. Battalions leave a Ranger Challenge with stronger bonds and sharper skills.

The Buckeye Battalion Tailgate Party
Every fall, the ROTC battalion holds a tailgate party prior to OSU football home games at the "shoe".  Cadets, cadre, staff, alumni, and family members gather outside Converse Hall to show their school spirit and cheer the Buckeyes on to victory.

Get into the sprint of being an Army Cadet.

Our cadets go wild as the Buckeyes score a touchdown enroute to victory!!!

Rock Ceremony (OSU Veterans Tribute)
Around Veteran's Day, The OSU Army ROTC Buckeye Battalion cadets conduct an annual ceremony honoring OSU veterans and our fallen comrades.

Military Ball
Our Military Ball held in February is a formal function held each winter quarter.  Cadets and their guests enjoy dinner, comments from a distinguished guest speaker, and dancing in an elegant setting.  This is the first of many formal events a future Army Lieutenant would be attending.

Flag Raising at the "Shoe"
The Army ROTC Buckeye Battalion has the honor of raising the national colors at every OSU football game. Every fan inside the stadium watches in awe as the cadets raise the flag high above the "Shoe". Come be a part of this wonderful tradition.

Spring and Fall Field Training Exercises
Every spring and fall quarters, cadets of the Buckeye Battalion put their skills to the test when they go on field training exercises (FTX). These exercises are geared towards providing the cadet hands-on training in a variety of tasks like rappelling, land navigation, field craft, patrol tactics, and negotiating a leader's reaction course.
