Master Sergeant David Shipman was born in Cheyenne WY. He graduated from Santa Rita High School in Tucson, AZ in 2000. He enlisted in the United States Army in 2001 as a 19K, Armor Crewmen. In 2005 he was re-classed to a 19D, Cavalry Scout.

Master Sergeant Shipman has served in numerous units throughout his career and has held leadership positions in Armor, Infantry and Cavalry organizations. He has served as a Tank Gunner, Dismounted Team Leader, Section Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and First Sergeant. He has served in 1-68 AR, 4TH ID, Fort Carson, CO; RHHT, and 1-11 ACR, Fort Irwin, CA; 2-9 IN, 2nd BDE, 2ID, Camp Casey, Korea, 19D ALC, NCOA, Fort Knox, KY; HHC, 2-18 IN, 170th IN BDE, Baumholder, GM; Nemesis Troop, 4th Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment, Rose Barracks, Germany, and most recently as the Senior Military Instructor at The Ohio State University

Master Sergeant Shipman has completed four combat tours to include two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and two in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Master Sergeant Shipman’s military education includes the Basic Leader’s Course, the Advanced Leader’s Course, the Senior Leader’s Course, and the First Sergeant Course. MSG Shipman is also a graduate of the Army SHARP Course and Air Assault School.
His awards and decorations include the Combat Action Badge, Bronze Star Medal (2 oak leaf clusters), the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (6 oak leaf cluster), the Army Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with 2 Campaign Star, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 2 Campaign Star and the Korean Defense Service Medal. He is a recipient of the Order of the Silver and Gold Combat Spur and a recipient of the Order of Saint George, Bronze Medallion.

Master Sergeant Shipman is married to Natalie Shipman, from Tucson, AZ and they have two children, Spencer and Cooper.
