Alumni of THE Buckeye Battalion,

I hope you’ll enjoy the 2022 Summer Super SITREP on your program below!  Go Bucks!

It’s great to be back on campus with our Cadets!

Initial impressions: The Buckeye Battalion commissioned 34 Lieutenants for Mission Set 22. As excitement builds for the 22-23 Academic year, our current enrollments remain strong.  During New Cadet Orientation the program enrolled 72 new Cadets.  Beginning at the start of Fall Semester, the Battalion had 191 Cadets in the program.

Speaking of excellence and accomplishments: The Buckeye Battalion sent 40 Cadets to Cadet Summer Training 22 (CST22) at Fort Knox, KY this summer.  Cadets conducted nine graded events including the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT), Land Navigation written test, land navigation practical evaluation, first aid, chemical (CBRN) chamber, Basic Rifle Marksmanship (BRM), grenade throw, Platoon Field Training Exercises (FTX) over Patrols and a 12-mile ruck march.  The Buckeye Battalion closed out an exciting CST 22 with 45% of those graduating achieving an “OUTSTANDING” or “EXCELLENT” performance summary.  Additionally, 5 Buckeyes earned the distinction of RECONDO.

Some Cadets from the Battalion conducted additional Army Training, representing the “Block O” brand nationally and internationally.  The Battalion graduated 3 Cadets from Army Air Assault School; sent 3 Cadets to Cadet Troop Leader Training (CTLT) – 2 trained at Fort Bragg, NC and 1 at The Old Guard in Washington D.C. The Battalion also sent 3 Nursing students to Nurse Summer Training Program (NSTP) – 1 attended Walter Reed, 1 attended Fort Belvoir, VA and 1 attended Fort Leonard Wood, MO.  We’re extremely proud of our Cadets’ accomplishments this summer!

The Battalion continues to improve Converse Hall through modernization. The LTC Wallace Stover Conference Room received new bookshelves, all of the current Hall of Fame Plaques are now showcased in the Hall of Fame corridor, and the reception area received updated furniture. The organization continues to display many of the historic relics including framed guidons, awards, and trophies throughout the building.

Thank you again for all the support you provide to your program.  It was a pleasure to have Mr. Doug Huber attend the President’s visit in August and represent the Alumni Society.  I look forward to continued dialogue with all of you in the upcoming academic year.  I am excited for future engagements, and continued traction in implimenting the President’s “Scarlet and Gray Initiative” which will help more of our Cadets graduate debt free from Ohio State – a righteous effort that I’d love to collaborate with our Alumni more on in the coming months and years!  I cannot thank you enough for the love, support, and encouragement our program receives from our Alumni.  You are our heritage and legacy, and we strive to honor the “Scarlet and Gray” every day!
