MSG Johnson was born in Dayton, Ohio. He enlisted in the United States Army July of 2002 and completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and graduated as a 19K Armor Crewman. Upon completion of OSUT, he was then assigned to Bravo Company 1-68 Armor, as a tank Driver. MSG Johnson’s follow-on assignments include Bravo Company 1-68 Armor, Delta Company 1-8 Infantry, Drill Sergeant at Fort Knox, 1-22 Infantry, 194th Armor Brigade, Newport News Recruiting Company, Bravo Company 1-64 AR Battalion, HHC 1ABCT, 3ID.
MSG Johnson has served as a Tank Driver, Tank Loader, Tank Gunner, Tank Commander, Drill Sergeant, Recruiter, Platoon Sergeant, and Company First Sergeant. MSG Johnson has deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, rotations to Kuwait, Republic of Korea, and most recent contingency deployment to Germany in support of USAREUR-AR operations.
MSG Johnson’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (7), Army Achievement Medal (11), Good Conduct Medal (6), National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (7), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (3 campaign Stars), Korean Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (4), the Combat Action Badge, Gold Recruiting Badge. He is also a member of the Order of Saint George (Black and Bronze Medallion).
His military education and schooling include Basic Leader Course (Commandants List), Advance Leaders Course (Commandants List), Senior Leaders Course, Master Leaders Course, Drill Sergeant School, Army Recruiter Course, and Master Resiliency Training Course.
MSG Johnson has been married to his wife Alisha for 19 years and they have two Children: Tanner (son, 11 years old), and Taylor (daughter, 8 years old).
